Nagoya Station From Chukyo TV

This is a broadcaster's camera rather than a street-level one. Chukyo Television, the Nippon TV affiliate for the Tokai region, runs it as a news source, and it looks toward Nagoya Station and the cluster of towers that make up the Meieki skyline.

The elevated vantage point gives it a different job from the station-front cameras. Rather than watching individual pedestrians, it shows the whole western skyline at once, which makes it a good way to read the weather rolling in across the Nobi Plain or to judge how heavy the haze is on a summer afternoon.

Broadcast cameras like this one earn their keep during storms and typhoons, when the wide view over the city gives a clearer sense of conditions than any single street corner could.
