Yokosuka Uwamachi Footbridge
About the Yokosuka Uwamachi Footbridge Camera
This is a second Yokosuka City disaster monitoring camera, positioned near the Uwamachi footbridge. Unlike the coastal camera, this one is inland and looks at the road.
Uwamachi sits on the slopes above central Yokosuka. The city is built on a narrow strip between hills and harbour, so its roads climb and twist more than a coastal city usually would, and the residential districts run up the hillsides in terraces.
As a monitoring feed its value is practical: road surface, traffic flow and visibility, particularly during heavy rain or snow when the gradients here become a genuine problem. As with the coastal camera, official warnings should come from the Japan Meteorological Agency and Yokosuka City rather than from this stream.
