Tokyo Futako Tamagawa

Tokyo, Japan LIVE --:--:-- JST

About the Futako-Tamagawa Camera

This camera covers Futako-Tamagawa in Setagaya ward, where the Tama River forms the boundary between Tokyo and Kanagawa. The open riverbanks here are unusually wide for the city.

The district was substantially rebuilt over the 2010s. The Futako-Tamagawa Rise development reshaped the area around the station with offices, retail and housing, and the arrival of a major corporate headquarters shifted the daytime population noticeably. It went from a comfortable residential suburb to something closer to a secondary business centre.

The river is the constant. The banks are used for running, cycling, baseball and barbecues, and because the floodplain is deliberately kept clear the sky here is far more open than in most of Tokyo. That makes it a good place to watch weather arriving from the west, and the river level is worth checking during heavy rain and typhoons.
