Tokyo Bay Wide View
About the Tokyo Bay Wide View Camera
This is a wide, high-vantage view over Tokyo toward the bay. The stream does not name a single landmark as its subject, and the framing can shift, so it is better thought of as a general view of the city than a camera pointed at one thing.
What it does well is scale. From a high angle the layers of Tokyo separate out — the low-rise sprawl in the foreground, the tower clusters rising out of it, and beyond them the flat grey band of the bay. On a clear day the far shore in Chiba is visible across the water.
It is a good camera for weather and light. Cloud crossing the basin, rain fronts arriving from the west, and the long shift from afternoon sun through dusk into the lit city at night all read clearly at this distance.
