Sakuramachi Kumamoto Bus Terminal

Kumamoto, Japan LIVE --:--:-- JST

About the Sakuramachi Kumamoto Bus Terminal Camera

This camera covers SAKURAMACHI Kumamoto, the bus terminal and commercial complex at the centre of Kumamoto City. It opened in September 2019 and, with 29 bus berths, ranks among the largest bus terminals in Japan.

Buses matter more here than in most Japanese cities of this size. Kumamoto has trams and rail but no subway, so the terminal handles a large share of intercity and regional traffic — services to Aso, Amakusa, Fukuoka and beyond all pass through. Watching the berths gives a fair read on how the region is moving.

The complex sits directly across from Kumamoto Castle, and the rooftop garden level offers one of the better free views of the keep. The building also houses a hall, a cinema and a hotel. Foot traffic peaks around commuter hours and on weekends, and the plaza is a common meeting point.
