Niigata Prefecture Rotating Cameras

Niigata LIVE --:--:-- JST

About the Niigata Prefecture Rotating Cameras Camera

This is a rotating feed from the broadcaster TeNY, cycling through five points across Niigata: Niigata city, Nagaoka, Joetsu, Sado Island and the front of Niigata Station.

Niigata is long. It stretches roughly 240 kilometres along the Sea of Japan coast, and the weather at one end frequently has nothing to do with the other. In winter especially, the difference between the northern coast, the inland snow country and Sado offshore can be dramatic — which is exactly what a rotating feed is good at showing.

As with any rotating stream, it is not the camera to watch if you want one specific view held steady. It works as a prefecture-wide conditions check, and the Sado segment is the only view of the island on the site.
