This camera covers the terminal building at New Chitose Airport, the main air gateway to Hokkaido and one of Japan's busiest airports outside Tokyo. It's a different view from the site's runway camera, focused on the terminal front and ground-level activity.
New Chitose is known for its shopping and entertainment complex inside the terminal, including a ramen theme park and a hot spring, alongside its role as a major cargo and passenger hub.
The terminal is unusually easy to reach without a car. The JR station sits directly underneath it, with trains into Sapporo in a little over half an hour, so a good deal of what this camera shows at the kerbside is buses and drop-offs rather than the full flow of passengers. Many people arrive and leave without the forecourt ever seeing them.
