About the Mount Fuji from Tokyo Camera
This camera looks west from Tokyo toward Mount Fuji, about 100 kilometres away on the horizon. At that distance the mountain is a small, sharply defined silhouette rather than a dominant feature, and whether it appears at all depends entirely on the air.
Winter is the season for it. Cold, dry air moving down from the northwest clears the haze that sits over the Kanto plain for much of the year, and from roughly November through February the mountain is visible from Tokyo far more often than not — most reliably in the early morning.
The other thing worth waiting for is the light. When the sun sets behind the summit the whole silhouette darkens against a red sky, and on cold clear mornings the snow on the peak can catch an early pink cast before the city below has any direct light on it at all.
