Linear Chuo Shinkansen Nagano Station Site

Nagano LIVE --:--:-- JST

About the Linear Chuo Shinkansen Nagano Station Site Camera

This camera watches the site set aside for the Linear Chuo Shinkansen's Nagano Prefecture station, in the Iida area of the southern Ina valley.

The Linear Chuo Shinkansen is a maglev line intended to run between Tokyo and Nagoya at up to 500 km/h, with most of its route in tunnel beneath the mountains. The Nagano station is one of the intermediate stops. For a valley that has never had a Shinkansen, the prospect reshapes assumptions about distance entirely.

What the camera actually shows is a construction site — earthworks, plant and gradual change over months rather than anything dramatic hour to hour. Opening dates for the line have moved more than once, so the honest description is that this is work in progress with no confirmed completion date.

Highlights & Nearby

  • Watch for: earthworks and plant on site, slow structural progress, the Ina valley setting
  • Nearby: Iida city, the Southern Alps, the Ina valley, Tenryu River
  • Note: an active construction site — change is gradual, and the line has no confirmed opening date
