About the Azumino Camera
This 4K camera looks across Azumino, the broad alluvial fan spread at the foot of the Northern Alps in central Nagano.
Azumino is defined by water. Snowmelt from the Alps sinks into the fan and re-emerges lower down as springs, which is why the area became Japan's largest producer of wasabi — a crop that needs cold, clean, constantly moving water. The Daio Wasabi Farm draws on exactly that supply.
The view changes completely with the farming year: flooded paddies mirroring the mountains in late spring, deep green in summer, gold before the autumn harvest, and a hard bright white when the Alps hold snow against a clear winter sky. It is one of the better cameras on the site for simply watching a season turn.
